THE FREE COMMUNITY EVENT:

On Saturday, January 24th at 6PM, artist-in-residence Angelica Dzeli Gosiewska Palmer and performers from The Telegraph School will gather to host a COMMUNITY RITUAL beginning at the Kirkland Art Center Gallery. All are welcome! Join us in the KAC gallery at 6PM (9 1/2 East Park Row in Clinton, NY) to learn about the Koliada winter tradition, and to learn an easy caroling song as a group.

We will then sing our way across the street to the village green for an immersive outdoor performance with the Telegraph School performers, lasting about 20 minutes. Dress warmly! We’ll also be collecting free-will donations via cash and QR code at this event; 100% of proceeds go to the artists.

About Angelica Dzeli Gosiewska Palmer

Angelica is a social practice artist and ritualist working at the intersection of nature, community, and ancestral wisdom. Rooted in Slavic and Animist traditions, she uses music, storytelling, and somatic practices to create participatory experiences that foster reconnection with self, others, and the living world.

It’s Via Day!

Join us during Via Perkins’ Folkist Space residency for a listening room experience, art talk, and meet-and-greet happy hour on Valentine’s Day! (Pairs well with an early dinner at our residency sponsor Nola’s if you’re out on date night.)

On February 14th at 7PM, Via will join us for an IN RESIDENCE evening at Folkist Space. Listen to works in progress from an emerging musical artist and learn about the songwriting and artist residency process. After the Q&A, we’ll and and mingle with neighbors over refreshments in an intimate house party setting.

About the Artist

Via Perkins (artist name: vialiveshere) is a Type A creative — equal parts sensitive artist and Google Calendar obsessive. She has a near-constant inner monologue, is usually talking to herself about the past or the future, and has never really let go of anything.

Songs result from this babbling brook of thoughts, sometimes via journal entry, sometimes while strumming guitar, and sometimes in dreams. And yes, they are all organized in labeled documents and folders and backed up on hard drives.

Musically, she draws from the bluegrass and country her aunt used to put on at family gatherings, the singer/songwriters her mom played on cassette in the car while heading to the beach, and the rock songs she blasted into her headphones from the CD player she owned in her teenage years.

Join us during Summer McCall’s Folkist Space residency for a social dancing house party and artist Q&A session.

On March 28th at 7PM, Summer joins us to teach a couple of the social dances she’ll be learning during her residency. Attendees will be taught a couple of simple group dances to live fiddle tunes. This short workshop is beginner-friendly, and will be paired with an artist Q&A chat and time to meet the artist over refreshments.

About the artist

Summer is a vibrant force in the Celtic arts. She is a booking agent with FLi Artists, a multi-festival director (including the Boston Celtic Music Festival and founder of the Carolina Celtic Music Festival), a ceilidh dance caller, and a Celtic fiddler/cellist. Her naturally extroverted and effervescent energy has connected her with a global network of Celtic and Folk artists. Raised in the traditional Scottish music and dance community of Northern California’s Sierra Nevada foothills, Summer now calls Boston home (when she isn’t on the road performing or producing Celtic events). For more than 20 years, her passion and dedication have centered on sustaining and celebrating traditional Celtic music and culture.
